LifeBridge Health consists of Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Northwest Hospital Center, Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and their subsidiaries and affiliated units, including LifeBridge Health & Fitness and the LifeBridge Medical Care Centers in Eldersburg, Mays Chapel and Reisterstown. Both Sinai and Northwest remain acute-care general hospitals with complementary clinical centers of excellence.

Applying & Interviewing - External Applicants

Steps in the Application Process for all External Applicants
  • First, browse our current directory of open positions on www.lifejobs.org. After searching jobs and reading the job summary, click on the link at the bottom of the job description page that says, "Click Here to Apply".

    [Note: A separate window will open. If you are using pop-up blocker software, you will need to either deactivate the software beforehand to allow pop-ups on lifejobs.org, or CNTRL click on the "Click Here to Apply Online" link at the bottom of the job description.]

  • If this if your first time using the online application, click on the link that says, "First Time Applying." This will bring you to the registration screen. Entering your information will allow you to save your application and submit additional applications for other positions. Complete all of the required fields and make sure you write down your user name and password for future reference.

  • If you have previously applied for a LifeBridge Health position, click on the appropriate link based on when you applied. If you applied after January 31, 2006, log in by entering your user name and password previously created. You will have the opportunity to update your profile; or if there are no changes, click "Continue" and then select the "Complete the Application" button.

    Note: If you are reapplying for the same or a new position, please be sure to edit your cover letter at this time.

  • Then, fill out the online application. Be sure to complete all required information marked by a red asterisk and include a detailed job history. When you reach the cover letter and resume section: If you have a cover letter and/or resume, follow the directions on the page to copy and paste the information into the large text areas. You will not need to attach your resume as a separate file.

    Continue to complete the application. When you reach the Read and Sign section, carefully read the agreement and electronically sign the application in the indicated areas by typing in your name. Click "Submit."

  • After clicking the submit button you will see an "Employment Information" screen that lists the application steps. Click "I agree" at the bottom of the page to continue the application process.

  • The next screen to display is the "Consumer Rights Notification." Click "Continue" at the bottom of page.

  • Next, you will see the "Consumer Report Disclosure and Release" screen. Complete the required fields at the bottom of the page and click "Submit."

  • The "Application Summary" displays next. Answer the five questions and add any comments, if applicable. Click "Continue."

  • The last screen to display is the request for data required for EEO/Affirmative Action Plan reporting. This is a voluntary form. Answer the questions or select "I choose not to answer" and click "Submit." Important: You only need to click the submit button one time! Clicking this button more than once may result in an error.

  • After clicking the submit button, you will see a "Thank You" message that confirms your application has been submitted.

  • After submitting the online application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail to the address that you specify when you fill out the application. This e-mail confirmation is sent to let you know that we have received your application. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL. The e-mail address is automatically generated by the database and does not go to anyone. If you have received the confirmation e-mail, please be assured that we have received your application and will be reviewing it shortly. Please do not contact us regarding the status of your application. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we do not call every applicant. You will be contacted directly by a recruiter if you are selected for an interview.

In addition to market competitive compensation, the complete employment package includes a variety of benefits, many of which are paid for 100% by LifeBridge Health or are substantially subsidized to help you with the cost.




At LifeBridge Health, there is a comprehensive approach to physical and emotional wellness. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of the health and welfare options available. These include:

Health Insurance: Choose any doctor under the Triple Option Plus plan. This benefit gives employees the right to choose a LifeBridge Health network provider, a Blue Cross Blue Shield provider or an out-of-network provider. The Prescription Drug Plan provides low-cost generic drugs with the option to purchase prescriptions through mail order.

Dental Coverage: The annual maximum benefit for dental coverage is $1,500 for all eligible non-union employees.

EyeMed Plan: Employees receive discounts on eye exams, lenses, frames and contacts.

LifeBridge Health & Fitness: Employees receive a discount on the membership fee at one of greater Baltimore’s preeminent health and fitness centers.

Fitness Challenge at LifeBridge Health & Fitness: This 10-week program encourages employees to get in shape with a health assessment and a trial membership at LifeBridge Health & Fitness.

Flu Shots: Employees receive a free flu shot each year.

Disability: Short-term and long-term disability is available. In the event of a long-term disability, full-time employees will continue to receive part of their pay.

Healthy Food Choices: Cafeterias, vending machines and gift shops offer healthy meals and snacks for employees and visitors.




LB Points: This innovative employee recognition and rewards program is designed to reward employees for excellent performance. Points are awarded for achievements or years of service and can be redeemed for merchandise, travel or gift cards. You have the freedom to choose the gift you want when you want it.

Service Awards: LifeBridge Health celebrates the contributions of employees who have served five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years of service with a special event and a gift.

Star and SuperStar: These programs reward employees who demonstrate superior customer service that is recognized by patients and co-workers. Many departments also have special employee recognition programs.

Employee Appreciation Days: These annual events highlight the special work done by co-workers. Employees can send gold chocolate coins or other tokens of appreciation to colleagues as a thank you.

Health Care Employee Recognition Events: Nurses Week, Doctors Day, Allied Health Professionals Week, Health Care Environmental Services and Housekeeping Week—these are just a few of the employee groups that are celebrated throughout the year.

Referrals: When an employee recommends someone for a position and that person is hired, the employee may be eligible for a cash reward.




United Way: LifeBridge Health supports the United Way through an annual campaign, and employees are encouraged to participate through payroll deduction.

Blood Drives: LifeBridge Health actively supports the local chapter of the American Red Cross by organizing blood drives at Sinai, Northwest Hospital Center and Levindale. Hundreds of employees roll up their sleeves each year to donate the gift of life…and often receive a gift for giving!

Community Outreach: LifeBridge Health sponsors a number of community events designed to draw attention to and support programs at our hospitals. The Save-a-Limb Ride, Race for Our Kids run/walk, braVo! and the LifeBridge Health Gala are just a few of the events that employees can become involved in. LifeBridge Health also supports events focused on raising awareness of breast cancer, heart disease in women and premature births.

Community Screenings: Regular screenings for heart disease, blood pressure, depression and other medical ailments are offered to employees and local residents.

December Drives: Departments throughout the system often adopt a family during the holiday season and provide toys, clothes and food for the adopted family.

Building Bridges Mentoring Program: Employees can offer to be a mentor or ask for mentoring assistance using BridgeList. In fall 2007 LifeBridge Health will partner with two schools in a formal mentoring program.




Dining Options: On-site cafeterias offer employees a chance to purchase a meal or snack. A discount is offered to every employee purchasing a beverage, snack or meal at these cafeterias. Vending machines for snacks and beverages are conveniently placed throughout LifeBridge Health campuses.

Smart Card: Don’t like to carry cash? Enroll in the Smart Card program, which allows food purchases to be automatically deducted from your paycheck.

Telecommuting: Started as a pilot program, telecommuting is something you and your manager can discuss to see if it is a viable work arrangement for you and your work team.

Parking: Each facility provides free parking with shuttle service to campus where needed.

Banking: In addition to on-site ATMs, some locations offer the convenience of an on-site credit union.

Direct Deposit: Employees are encouraged to take advantage of the convenience of electing to have their paycheck deposited directly into their bank account.




Activity Committees: Each LifeBridge Health center recognizes the importance of fun in the workplace. Committees organize activities throughout the year to foster an environment where employees can have fun and get to know each other better. Past events have included Bring Your Pet to Work Day, LifeBridge Idol singing competitions, bowling tournaments, basketball tournaments, dance contests and Orioles games.

Spring Picnics: These annual picnics give everyone the chance to enjoy sunshine, a delicious meal and time to get to know their co-workers better.

Holiday Parties: Enjoy the chance to mingle, eat and celebrate in the spirit of the season.

Celebrations: Celebrations are planned throughout the year, including an employee breakfast to commemorate being named the Best Place to Work in Baltimore, and LB Point scratch-off tickets when we were named TOPS! Maryland Employer of Distinction.

Trips: LifeBridge Health groups sponsor regular trips to New York City. The Department of Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Services also sponsors an annual religious trip abroad, with a trip to Israel in 2007 and one to Italy in 2008.




Tuition Assistance: Receive up to $5,000 annual reimbursement for higher education courses.

Education Resource Center: The ERC provides education and role training to enhance clinical performance and safe practice for LifeBridge Health. Additionally, they offer continuing education in various forms: in-services, consortiums, workshops, computer-based training and internships to meet your individual, unit or department needs.

Organizational Effectiveness and Development (OED): Employees can take courses in time management, cultural diversity, computer skills or other areas that help in their professional development. Managers are offered courses focused on building their skills as leaders.

Performance Management: To do your best work you have to get feedback on how you are performing. LifeBridge Health employees receive annual reviews and regular feedback from their supervisors.

Job Postings: Open positions are posted for all employees to see, and hiring preference for these opportunities is given to qualified internal candidates.

Competitive Pay: A comprehensive program is in place to evaluate jobs throughout the system to ensure that pay rates are competitive. Market adjustments are made to ensure that pay keeps pace with changes in the greater Baltimore area.

Workforce Development: In addition to tuition assistance, employees can take classes in computer skills and medical terminology. Each facility is defining career ladders and offers educational opportunities for employees to get better prepared to go back to school to earn a degree.




Carebridge Work-Life Services and Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Whether you need information about child or elder care, buying a home, raising a teenager, or help with legal or financial issues, Carebridge counselors are standing by. Practical solutions and sound advice for life’s challenges at home or at work are offered by competent, professionally trained counselors. Carebridge services, which are free and confidential, are available every hour of every day.

Retirement Plans: 403(b) and pension plans are offered at LifeBridge Health. Investment advisors help employees with their retirement plans, and a company match is available for most 403(b) plans.

Adoption Assistance: LifeBridge Health now provides financial reimbursement of up to $3,500 to eligible employees who adopt a child under the age of 18.

Phase-In Retirement: Full-time and part-time, non-union employees age 60 or older, who have worked at LifeBridge Health for at least five years, can reduce their hours and become or stay part-time as they approach retirement, yet keep their lower full-time medical, prescription and dental benefits rates.

bridgelist: Similar to craigslist, bridgelist lets employees connect with each other. Use it to find or be a mentor, get rid of stuff, list community events, find a carpool, or offer to share talents. Everything is free—no money changes hands.

Scholarship Program: Employees’ children or dependent grandchildren who will be college sophomores are eligible to apply for the LifeBridge Health scholarship program. Awards of $2,500 each will be granted for students with a health care major, and $1,500 each for students with a non-health care major.

Flexible Spending Accounts: FSA accounts allow pre-tax payments for health care expenses like prescriptions; eyeglasses; and dependent care expenses, including child and adult day care, nursery or pre-school fees, and summer day camps.
