City Experiences is seeking a Captain for our HMS Ferries operation in Oklahoma City.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The Captain directs the vessel's activities and operates the vessel safely and efficiently while supervising onboard employees. This position ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies; conducts vessel inspections; and completes logs and reports, all while directly supervising Deckhand(s) onboard the vessel. The Captain also provides a high level of customer service often including a guided tour of the river.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Remain true to and champion the Company's Core Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Safety First - Safety shall remain the highest priority at all times. Be an active advocate of, and participant in, the HMS Safety Culture.
  • Consider reliability and efficiency with regard to Company operations.
  • Responsible for the overall safety and security of the vessel.
  • Conduct onboard training and routine drills.
  • Inspect vessel as per company policy.
  • Ensure safety equipment is available and in proper working order and that all personnel have proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure all chemicals and other types of hazardous or caustic materials have Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and are properly handled, stored, and disposed of (as required).
  • Document any and all safety related concerns and initiate corrective actions.
  • Direct the vessel's activities - operate the vessel with the safety of passengers and crew foremost in mind.
  • Supervise onboard crewmembers
  • Articulate HMS Values to employees on regular basis and ensure understanding and adherence of HMS policies and procedures.
  • Ensure required crew training is provided and documented.
  • Oversee refreshments provided to passengers and guests, including alcoholic beverages.
  • Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism from crewmembers.
  • Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity from crewmembers.
  • Responsible for operational readiness of the vessel, including safety, mechanical, and aesthetic aspects.
  • Represent the operation and promotions to the public, community groups, and various agencies.
  • Provide a high level of customer service including a guided tour of the river when appropriate.
  • Present professional level of service and appearance to all clients.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Licensed Master for motor vessels of 25 gross tons or more by the USCG
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification, and/or ability to obtain and maintain
  • Obtain and maintain certification for alcohol service after training completion
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Copy of DD214, if Veteran status
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to train, mentor, coach, and counsel employees
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with the public
  • Possess and demonstrate superior judgment and performance under pressure
  • Set and achieve high standards of performance.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Salary: $25/hour
