BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY

The Revenue Accountant conducts and documents routine revenue accounting tasks under immediate supervision. Analyzes and records accounting transactions related to severance tax reporting. Collaborates with other team members, interacts with state agencies, responds to data requests, prepares reconciliations, and other revenue and regulatory responsibilities.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other Business-related field

EXPERIENCE

Oil and gas industry experience preferred, but not required

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With direct oversight from Lead Accountant and/or Supervisor, develop an understanding of the principles, theories, and concepts of accounting and apply them to assignments such as preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation and analysis of financial data
  • Develop and apply an understanding of financial and accounting analysis and problem solving
  • Develop an understanding of the control environment and comply with control procedures
  • Begin developing and promoting sound recommendation that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department
  • Review filings to ensure completeness
  • Ensure compliance within the government regulatory bodies
  • Respond to internal and external audit queries

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic Microsoft 365 skills
  • Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks and manage deadlines
  • Strong analytical and evaluation skills
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills
  • Develops basic knowledge of Oil and Gas industry acumen
  • Practice safe work habits at all times
